Patala Poha Chiwda/ Nagpuri Chiwda Namkeen

This is one Namkeen I’ve always loved.

2 cups Patal Poha

2-3 tbsp oil

1/4 cup peanuts/ cashews/dried coconut flakes/ chana ( use all or as many dried ingredients as you want adjust the quatities

A few curry leaves

1/2 tsp rai

4-5 green chillies chopped

1/2 tsp turmeric

Salt to taste

1-2 tsp sugar

Drive the poha so as to remove all the dust and crumbled pieces

Spread on a baking sheet and dry under the sun or in a oven at the lowest temperature.

Heat 1/2 the oil add in the rai And other ingredients reserving the poha. Roast till the chillies crackle Nd become dry.


Heat the rest of the oil

Add in the Poha and cook till the poha seems roasted and crisp. Add in all the other toasted ingredients salt sugar and turmeric. Cook on a medium to low flame for another five minutes.

Cool keep in an airtight jar and enjoy with tea.

The lesser oil you use the longer is the shelf life.
