This was my first attempt at making sushi
I experts please help me in every which way y’all can so I can become more confident to make Sushi
We can really play with ingredients and make a lot of variation.
This one is very basic.
3 Nori Sheets
3/4 cup sushi rice
2 tsps sushi vinegar
1 carrot ( didn’t use)
1 tsp ginger julienned
1 star anise
3 tbsp vinegar
3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
1/8 tsp wasabi
Lite Soya sauce
Sushi mat/ parchment paper
To pickle the veggies
Take 2 cups water and keep to boil ,add the salt , sugar , vinegar and star anise
Meanwhile peel the veggies cut into long strips . Remove the seedy pulp of the cucumbers. As the water starts boiling . Put all the veggies in this water . Keep it aside
Wash the rice thoroughly. Add 1 1/2 cups water and cook the rice. Check if it’s boiled and let the water dry. Add the sushi vinegar and salt to the rice mix. Cool
Place the Nori sheet on the mat / parchment paper. The line imprints vertical
And the shiny side down.
Spread a bout 4-5 tbsps rice on the sheet
Mix the wasabi in a bit of water about 1 tsps. Take a little wasabi and just about barely touch it to the rice in the centre top to bottom. Place the veggies in near one end length wise . leaving about 1 1/2 of the side .
Now lift the mat or paper start from the side where the veggies are placed. Start making a tight. As you come to the end run a wet finger on the edge of the Nori sheet. N close tightly.
Remove and cut into roundels with a sharp knife. The serve with soy sauce .
