Chana Dal Palak

I’m copy pasting her recipe coz I followed it to the T

We all make dals. And we all have our own way. Chana dal is one of the most versatile of dals. This is how I add palak to it. Do share your way if it’s different.
I take
1 cup Chana dal
200 gms palak chopped.
1/2 cup chopped tomato
1 cup chopped onion
4 green chilies sliced
1 tsp garlic grated
1 tsp ginger grAted
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp ciorriander pdr
1 tsp cumin pdr
1 1/2 tsp red chili pdr
1 tsp turmeric
1 pinch hing
1 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste .
Wash and Soak the Chana Dal for 1 hr. Then pressure cook with1 cup of water with a a pinch of salt and turmeric for 1 whistle. Switch off the gas and let the steam escape naturally .
In the mean time heat the oil in a pan , splutter the cumin seeds.
Add garlic , grn chilies, and hing and sauté for a minute.
Add the onion and sauté well.
Add the tomatoes and ginger along with the rest of the spices and sauté for another minute.
Finally add the spinach leaves. Toss and mix well with masala .
Add the boiled DaL and salt to taste and let cook till done.
Adjust the consistency of the dal and the seasoning to your liking and served hot.
I sometimes like to squeeze some lemon juice on mine
