Barbatti/ long beans/ chawli ki phali/ Lobhia ki phali
Cooking time 10-12 mins.
This delicious phali is cooked in many ways but my favourite is a very simple method. Goes very well with dal chawal/ Roti
2 tsp mustard oil
8-10 seeds of cumin
Pinch of hing
Pinch of carrom seeds( optional)
1/2 tsp chilli pwd ( optional)
Salt to taste
Wash the beans n chop to the desired size
I like to chop them fine
Heat the oil to smoking point. Tip in the hing n jeera. As the jeera crackles add the carrom seeds n immediately add the Barbatti toss n mix. Add the salt n toss to mix the salt in. Cover with a lid and filled with water. N cook on a low flame for 5-6 mins. Add the chilli pwd n cook again for another 5-6 mins. Serve hot
Donot over cook as it might turn a bit tough n chewy. That’s why I cook it with a lid of water.
